A THING OF THE PAST?
The Soap Opera Mania Tour has been cancelled! They do say “Tough Economic times” are doing them in but I beg to differ. Soap events are usually very well attended and often sold out. It’s a HUGE PR boon for them, remember “Summer Soap” stuff? They got free commercials out of that all over. It was also announced this year that the Super Soap Weekend at Disney wouldn’t be happening again. About 10 years ago soap stars would tour malls all over the country too. I’m just sayin’ this isn’t good. I wonder how long the GH Weekend events will happen. They are a huge draw for fans to connect with the stars. It’s too bad that the Mania Tour was cancelled because it brought the “show” to people who normally can’t come to California.
On to other wild news. Kelly Monaco’s PEEP SHOW is reportedly looking at Lindsay Lohan to join! There were plenty of people on hand to view Mel B and Kelly doing their act! Perez Hilton, Chris Noth and Bob Guiney were a few to gaze at the ladies. Can’t wait for Monaco to open up about the wild Miss USA pagent and the whole gay marriage issue!

I can’t see how this is an economic decision, either, since they always sell out. Are they punishing the few fans they have left by not doing fan events since their ratings are dropping?

Cancelling that Soap Tour for economic purposes is a crock. Cancelling Super Soap was shear stupidity. I went to every single Super Soap and it was always packed to the gills. Most of the complaints were in how things were run, not in the event itself or the stars that came. They should simply say that they don’t think the soaps or the soap fans are as important as the “prime time dramas”. I disagree as the soap stars work more and are paid way less (hellooooo cast of Grey’s Anatomy)
