Guess I’m behind the 8-ball here…or maybe I’ve been around too damn long to even look around the net much. Well, there’s a new “save our soaps” out there, which has been done in other ways over the years. (with not much success I might add). I have to say though–with the email campaigns, phone-a-thons and snail mail stuff not much has worked as far as REALLY ‘changing’ the show. Guza’s been in for SIX (and more, see below) years, and extended his contract 6 months, I think until October. If Frons keeps chugging along, I don’t see him going anywhere. I also contend that a lot of the actors are tied to Guza as well. Then again, in these economic times, one can’t be too picky, can they? With ratings staying in the 1.7 range there HAS to be some sweating happening. Wonder how Jill Farren Phelps is feeling right about now. She’s been in since what? 2001?

SOMETHING has to give, right? I’m so hoping ABC doesn’t do something stupid and cancel OLTL. Canada is already not broadcasting it. Yipes. GH just got a new set as well. The only West Coast soap. So, in other words, I don’t it would be the first ABC soap to go.
GH has a host of wonderous actors who have really endured a LOT of repition and crappy open-ended storylines throughout the years. They deserve so much more.
The ratings are finally in the basement. For the love of all that’s Soapy, some exec SOMEWHERE stand up, take notice AND CHANGE THINGS!!! There are not a lot of us left watching the show, and more leave everyday. Before dishing out the congrats and pats on the back at The CW’s Emmy Awards in August, they’d better take a giant step back and figure out what the hell to do.

I agree…SOMETHING needs to change!! I watched GH from the very beginning until around December of 2008. I had had enough of the mob story and the gloom and doom! Please bring back the OLD GH that was based around a hospital! The current writers seem to care less about the history of the show and the character of the people on the show. I have a hard time stomaching the killings that are somehow justified. I continue to read the spoilers hoping for something that will regain my interest in the program. Not happening anytime soon. This longtime Gh fan is now a new One Life to Live fan! I hope TPTB will soon wake up and smell the roses! If they don’t, I am afraid GH will be cancelled.
Just so you know. OLTL is still being televised in Canada. It got picked up by another Canadian network.
ITA with you, Karen!!! Good Heavens, I will be so mad if the exes. cancel OLTL, because that show is rolicking rocking on all points. GH on the other hand, is really terrible. Guza has something over those folks, don’t know what it is. I can’t believe that Guza has been with GH that LONG, thought it was about 3 to 4 years at the most.
Kev, glad to hear that OLTL is being televised in Canada. When I read that it got cancelled there, I was really worried about that. The Canadians knows good drama, and OLTL is the show to watch, period.
I believe OLTL got picked up 2 Canadian Stations. One for each area that OLTL got “cancelled” in.
I think Guza & Co are losing GH it’s many “FAITHFULL VIEWERS” and he does not care. The ratings are going down every week, yet he continues with inane s/l and let’s “VERY GOOD ” actors go Megan & Ric, he keeps boring inept acting on, maybe because they are cheap to sign. The people like me that have “LOVED GH” for years are leaving, also please go to Save Our Soaps it is making a differance. I don’t watch GH I get the info from “THE WUB”, I left because it is painfull to watch, Sonny & Claudia (disgust time) Johnny & Olivia (Fairy tale time, is she really that good????) Michael and the teen scene really not interesting to many mean-spirted teens is boring, Geary thank God he is off for awhile he is a joke, the GH I love has s/l of family and not the mob, I loved Skate, Jason & Eliz, Lucky & Sam, Now what do we have Claudia (UGGH) would have loved to see Kate and Carly ala Alxis & Crytal what fun that would have been Megan Ward is and “ACTRESS” the best they have had in years sooooooo what happens they destroy a “REAL” woman for a s/l of harsh talking, wedding guest that never leaves, they sign inept actors and let good one’s go, well guess what we are leaving to.
It’s interesting to see that information about Guza as consulting producer. I was just looking at some historical ratings info for this decade that revealed the beginning of a sharper than previous decline in the show’s HH rating in the 2004-2005 season, and it’s lasted up to the present (at least up to the last whole season, I can’t include this one yet). I was wondering what happened that season that might have caused that, and then I came here and read the Wikipedia list. Hmm…
