WUBQUEEN’S Best Dressed:
Nice night I thought! Kudos to Jim Romanovich the producer of the show who worked tirelessly to get it on a station and give us a high quality entertainment. The red-carpet preshow was fabu too. Jamey Giddens and Nelson Branco were so fun providing the preshow comment. Nice tux’s!
Best dressed for me was Lori Laughlin in a beautiful salmon colored dress. Julie Marie Berman (Winner for younger actress) and Kirsten Storms went all retro-glam and looked so nice. Here’s some pics for you to take a gander: Splash News.
If you want to see some of the show, run over to Daytime Confidential because they have clips of everything!
Some things I remember is watching Rick Hearst saying he was ‘off contract’ with GH and then B&B picked him up. AND BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL won best show! woo hoo! I also loved the Sesame Street part. All those original players on? Gordon, Susan, and Bob??!! Nice. Tyler Christopher and Becky Herbst danced to a song that showcased Daytime fashion. It lasted exactly 2 hours, which was great but B&B totally got cut off at the end.
VERY HOT on the carpet! People were sweating. How do they not turn into puddles? eesh. Did you notice ABC didn’t even bother to send anyone to pick up their awards? The View and GMA both won and no one in the audience accepted. That’s cold. At least send some poor intern –they would have loved it!
Can I even COMMENTon GH winning best writing? I’ll try. This was totally OLTL’s year, I feel. Ron Carlivati delivers almost EVERYDAY on the show. We know these are judged on one show…GH does well on that one shot blast–but not consistent. Just made me NOT HAPPY! We’ll have Mr. Guza forever. Just sayin’.
THANK YOU TO all Wubbers who made Emmy Night a blast. Many of us were IMing on Skype. There were twitters coming in from stars and writers and many websites. I tell you what, twitter just brings us all together. I’m also connecting more and more with you, my readers! Some day, when I win the mega millions, I am flying you all to a giant WUBS cocktail party some place fab. (so keep those fingers crossed that I win!)

Best writing “What A Joke”, I could not believe it, now we have Blow Up Guza forever… Frons must have bought alot of drinks & dinners to get them to vote for the “Trash’ we have had to indure the last year. Also soooo glad Julie won should have been a tie with her and Kristen, also give me a break the so called soap experts picked AG, please the man forgot to act years ago and GH act’s like he is so important, just when GH get’s interesting here come’s another blow up and at the carnival they now call GH. Also TC was so stiff I thought he was going to fall, Rebecca looked beautifull so much for Frons saying she’s not pretty enough. To say the writing of GH is better then OLTL is such a crime, OLTL has been sooo good this year, and to credit a show that is losing ratings, and fans is a slap in the face to the “REAL” long time viewers that love “What GH used to be” And NO best actress nominee, what about Megan Ward & Laura Wright???? But “NO” the writers win, only good thing we got to see what the ‘trash-story tellers look like.
I know, I can’t believe there were no actress from GH. LW really deserved one, imo. I also like Sarah Brown, as you know!
The commercial for the Carnival was really good. I rewound it and watched it a lot. I don’t know why everytime there is a gala, carnival, anything going on, there needs to be a death or some disaster that results in casulties. How about one that goes off without a hitch, with laughter or drama in a different way. I always enjoyed the AIDES awareness ball, because it showed a lighter side of the characters, working together for a great cause!
My quick 2cents on the Emmys:
Red Carpet was fun, although at times it was more like an hour long CW commercial. I loved it the year Laura Wright was interviewing peeps along the carpet.
Loved Kirsten’s dress! Who wore a similar dress?
Sad that Vincent Irizarry got to hog the camera for the longest acceptance speech.
Perplexed at the inconsistency of showing of the nomination clips.
BA? Happy for his nom, not surprised at the non-win. He didn’t have the dramatic scene needed to pull off a win.
KS? Again, happy for the nom. However, her scenes at the end of 2007 were much better Emmy material wise. I was hoping she had won last year.
JMB? You go girl. When the scenes showed last year, it evoked an automatic “Emmy winner” comment. And to think she was acting opposite a wig!
Missed the boat? Kirstin Alderson with no nomination and Bree Williamson with no statue.
TG? No chess set for you.
I loved the Daytime gives back segment.
I despised the Vanessa Williams singing. WTF? They should have nixed that and given the time to B&B.
I miss the table format…it was always nice to see groups of actors and the sitting at tables was fun to watch. I would have liked to seen more random shots of the audience.
Sesame Street was fun, however GL seemed like it was rushed. I would have rather have seen GL get more time and SS less time.
The fashion show was totally random. How it did correlate to the individual shows? Seriously. For fashion…why not put KM in her boobalicious outfits, BA in his weird geeky Star Trek shirt, MW/KS/JMB in couture. Again, fluff. Show me the stars that were at the event.
Writing award? Gah. Illegitimate award I believe. I’ve always thought that the nomination submission tapes should be a minimum of 3 days worth. Guza and Co. (excluding Ms. Val Jean) can pull one day of brilliant writing out of their arse. Their problem is providing acceptable writing day in and day out.
Overall, CW and Jim R, thank you for embracing our Daytime people. They deserve recognition and respect. I applaud your effort and hard work for giving the Daytime Emmy’s a home this year.
I noticed the KS same dress thing. THe other lady that wore a dress very similar to hers was Kim Zimmer who played Reva on Guiding Light. Stunk that they had to give awards right after each other too, so Kirstens dress was still fresh in our minds when Kim was up.
Thanks Andrea, I thought it was Kim Zimmer. Just looked at pics to compare…and KS clearly takes the “who wore it better” prize.
I really thought that bree williamson should have won last night, she is really great, especially throughout Nash’s death…she was awsome.
Who are the judges for this thing anyway anyone know not soap watchers thats 4 sure best writing LMAO
Nan–here is a clip of an interview that Nancy Lee Grahn gave to Michael Fairman regarding voting this year and why she didn’t go to the Emmys (and is enjoying a European holiday with her daughter instead):
NANCY :
I will have nothing to do with Emmys this year, because I did not even know there was a vote. A bunch of people on our show did not vote. I was not told. I was not given a ballot.
Apparently, you were not allowed to vote unless you agree to be a judge, and I pay dues to the academy, and I expect a vote. I am one of those persons, where if I am due a vote, I want it. There are so many places in time where my vote doesn’t matter, so when I do get a vote, I damn well want it. I wish everyone well.
I don’t even know if I was on the ballot, because when they asked me if I had anything to submit… I think I did not have anything. That part of it doesn’t interest me at all; it was the principle of it… me having paid dues and not being given a vote. Apparently, and this was told to some people and not others, because it was disorganized…you had to agree to judge to cast a vote. I don’t make deals with my vote.
I understand they need judges, but they have to find a better way to get judges. But I don’t want to be a spoil sport for the people that were nominated. It was a beautiful thing, and it was a great moment for me when I got one. I don’t want to suck the air out of it for someone who is having a good time with it. But for me, personally, I will not be involved.

Nice comments scg…
Kim Zimmer had on dress that Kirsten did..but backwards. 🙂
I agree that GH winning for Best Writing is a joke, but can I say how relieved I am that TG did NOT win for Lead Actor?? His work over the last few years has been crap and I’m so glad his streak of winning is finally kaput. I don’t watch Y&R, but I have no doubt CLB deserved the Emmy.
Oh, and mas….Megan Ward??? No way would she qualify for Lead Actress. LMAO!
Kirsten is so adorable and I think she topped JB on a daily basis throughout the entire year. Sometimes the judges just pass up the scene stealers and hand the awards to the actors that had the sad stories or ones that the writers thought SHOULD do well. Well we all know that storyline was dull (even though JB’s acting job was solid)Like someone mentioned above, Kirsten should have won when Georgie died. OMG, I could hardly bare to watch. Same with Liz when Emily died. Her sobbing over Em’s body while Jason looked on crying was incredible acting.
I agree OLTL had best writting. I didn’t think the camera work was as good on the CW as a major network. Hubby commented on that as well. And they cut off JMB speech (I know she didn’t start forever) and then the B&B. I know…at least it was on.
We need an All-Star Soap Week: each show votes 2 characters from their show, fans vote 2 from each show. One writer from each show. The 1 week quickstory takes place in fictional town as determined by draw. Writers collaborate to create quickstory using the characters voted in, ie: Jason and John McBain team up to save Sami from Stefano and Sheila’s evil clutches.
Filming to be done at host “town’s” set.
Hahaha….can you tell I’m bored?
Didn’t one of the mags used to have a fan fave award show??
SOD maybe?
That was good.
Can’t say I tuned in for the show, but man Julie Berman has a five head doesn’t she? (For those slow on this Monday I mean a five heard versus a Forehead). Give that girl some bangs, quick! I did hear Kemo looked hot though.
The only actress I feel is worthy of an emmy is NG or Laura Wright. As you ladies would say “JMO”
No blog? *sniff sniff* I’m so bored at work!
I agree Billo, LW def. deserved an emmy!!!
Not happy with gossip and/or news courtesy of soapzone: guza plans on killing Jake & rebecca is emily after all. This is possibly all for nov sweeps. Originally I wanted Rebecca to be Emily, but now I have warmed to Niz sine Liason chances are non existent. Pretty disgusted that Jason supposedly lays into Liz when jake is hurt at the carnival. What his goons couldn’t help protect him? Or Sam for that matter? This is the same guy who won a writing emmy.
Link to u tube of tamara brauns carly finding out michael was dead:
Bring your kleenex!
Wow. If Jake dies, I honestly think that is it for me. I say that a lot, but that is hitting below the belt. I only watch for a certain number of characters anymore anyway. The rest I FF.
Tamara Braun looked stunning.
Hated Julie Marie Berman’s hair…..she is all forehead. Note to JMB – bangs next time.
Loved seeing Rick Hearst show up. He is a class act.
Where were the GH head mobsters?
Glad Tony Geary didn’t win. Don’t think he deserves to be nominated when he is only on 6 months out of the year and his storyline sucks. Liked the clip from Feed the Children though.
I kind of liked Vanessa Williams singing ….. but they probably should have had her sing, “Oh, How the Years go By” for the GL tribute.
Seasame Street brought me back to being a six year old all over again. Bob was my favorite back then.
When I found out that Laura Wright was not nominated, I was really upset. I thought she really deserved it. Then Bree Williamson didn’t win, and i couldn’t believe it.
Overall, I thought the show was good. I loved the Sesame Street thing. My 5 year old cousin had just come down when it came on, so it was perfect timing. (He got upset when they left the stage.)
I barely watch anymore, but if they are going to kill Jake off, then i will stop watching all together. Best Writing Award is a joke. You can have good writing without killing someone every other week,
I enjoyed the telecast and thought it was well done except for the usual fatal flaw with a lot of awards shows: The major awards get the bum’s rush at the end due to time running out. Those are the awards most of us are watching and waiting for.
We sit through the dance numbers, the lame banter from presenters, the tributes, the accountants from Dewey, Cheatham & Howe, etc. only to have the Actor, Actress and Show categories be given short shrift.
I seem to recall some of the talk show winners didn’t even show up, so without those acceptance speeches there should have been some time available.
What happened to “B&B” last night was shameful.
Otherwise, I thought the highlights definitely included the Feed the Children segment and JMB’s total shock and surprise at her win.
By the way, it’s sad when a PROMO for an upcoming show is more exciting than what’s playing out now.
i agree about tamara braun looking stunning, and so did kelly monaco. thought tyler christopher looked very odd with becky but it looked like they ended their dance number with a kiss. And what a ho that other girl was dancing in a bikini. nasty!
jake may die? what is with these writers and their desire to kill or put kids in danger? or do they want no ties with liason period so sam can comfort him? this is f’d up. make him luckys kid and let him live.
How can we get all the comments that have been posted on this site and send them to the head of Disney? Get rid of the people on GH that are making it impossible to watch even though some of the days lately have been decent. Why were Guza and Fronz and Farren-Phelps not at the emmys? Is it a clue they are on their way out? One can only HOPE!
Also, the nomination and judging of daytime emmys? how does it work?
I didn’t watch the Emmy show. There so boring to me anymore. I can’t believe it won for ‘best’ writing….what are those people taking that voted on it???? Its like ‘what’ show are they seeing……cause thats a joke when its far from any best it ever was or will be again. I don’t mind JMB winning but I think KS is a better actress. I am also happy that TG didn’t win again ….I really don’t think any of his storylines have been that note worthy of an Emmy award really. (well maybe the heartattack one ) but other than that since he’s gone like half the yr–its good it went to somebody else that actually ‘works’ (or I guess so?)……If they kill Jake…thats horrible…..disgusting just like them killing Edward off. Why don’t we get all of Guza & company to be at the ‘fair’ and lets “Kill'” them off…..since they are all ‘killing’ this show one by one….soon they’ll be NO one at the hospital and no one anywhere….well except Sonny & Jason living ‘together’ cause everyone else died around them….thanks to Guza…….this is all not looking well…….I so hate Mr Guza….etc………IMO anyway……
So glad Tony Geary didn’t win. He didn’t even deserve to be nominated. His work the past years were boring. The Luke and Tracy thing is not funny to me anyway. He was great with the Luke and Laura adventures but now, he is a drunken bum standing behind a bar trying to look cool but failing miserably. Time to retire and stay in Amsterdam!!
the best thing about guza’s best-written soap is that i can watch the whole thing in about 15 minutes after FF-ing through all the lame young characters’ scenes. in all these years of writing, he sure can’t give any of the roles — even the old vets stashed away in some closet — any kind of depth or character. … we just wait for them to die or be knocked out in a hosptial bed to have the others bring up old memories that we’ve never seen on screen. … and i too am glad TG didnt win this year–like the guy, like the role but he’s had crap for dialogue and plot.
GH may have a couple home runs a year, but on a day-in and day-out basis, OLTL reallllly cooks! no comparison. they won the directing award again and deserved it. the show has a lot more depth than GH. i’ve watched it since Day One …
… and GH before audrey march ever showed up in her starched whites!
If Jake dies, I’m DONE!
